2014Gloucester County Scholarship Fundraiser
The annual Damian G. Gallagher Memorial Scholarship began in 2005 in memory of its namesake, a 1997 Gloucester Catholic High School graduate. Damian passed in 2001 at the age of 23. His friends felt the need to keep his spirit alive and part of a Gloucester Catholic tradition.
Every October, the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Gloucester County, Division 1, host a fundraising event for the scholarship. A $25 ticket, bought at the door, includes a buffet dinner, draft beer, wine, and live Irish Music. There is also a Chinese Auction, a Basket of Cheer” raffle, and 50/50.
Damian was a native of Co. Donegal, Ireland and came to the U.S at the age of 13. Damian was a star athlete on the GCHS Cross Country and Track Team. He was a student at Rutgers University in Camden and planned on becoming a teacher.
Since it’s inception, the scholarship has raised over $20,000, benefiting graduates of GCHS. The event will be held this year on Friday October 3rd, 2014. The event is open to the public and runs from 7pm to midnight. The event will feature live traditional Irish Music by Bob Glennan (GCHS class of ’83), Mike Glennan (GCHS class of ’14), and Patch Glennan (GCHS class of ’18). The Glennans will be followed by the Broken Shillelaghs Irish Band (GCHS graduates ranging from ’97 to ’04). All are welcome to attend at the Gloucester County AOH/Richard Rossiter Memorial Hall. 200 Columbia Blvd National Park, NJ 08063.
