2011Commodore John Barry Memorial Fundraiser
Commodore John Barry was the first commissioned officer in the US Navy, however the contributions of this important Irish-American are often over looked. The Hibernians have been working hard to erect a monument to ensure that Commodore Barry receives the recgnition that he deserves. The AOH recently received permission from the USNA to erect a memorial, a gate, and a plaza on the grounds of the Academy.
Gloucester 1 is working to raise the funds that will be needed to erect these monuments. To support their efforts, they are holding a Fundraiser event at their Hall in National Park, NJ. All AOH members are encouraged to support their event and efforts to recognize this very important Irish-American.
The event will be held on Saturday, December 3rd from 6PM to Midnight at Gloucester County AOH/Richard Rossiter Memorial Hall 200 Columbia Blvd.National Park, NJ. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door and include dinner, live entertainment, and dancing. Two Irish Bands will be sharing the stage: Celtic Connection of Philadelphia AOH Division 25 and The Broken Shillelaghs of Gloucester County NJ AOH Division 1. Special hotel rates and transportation between the event and hotel have been arranged.
