Cape May 2 Irish Flag Raising

The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division #2 of Upper Township, NJ will be hosting a Centennial Irish “Easter Rising” Flag Raising ceremony to commemorate the historic Irish rebellion of 1916 which lead to the separation of 26 counties of Ireland from Great Britain forming the modern Irish Republic. The event will start at 5:15 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 15 Lyndhurst Road in Marmora, NJ at the AOH/VFW hall following the 4 pm Mass at Resurrection Church.

The event will include a reading of the Irish Proclamation, a ceremonial flag raising with a bagpiper, live music by the band Jamie and the Quiet Man and a BBQ dinner courtesy of Pork Island BBQ of Atlantic County. Similar ceremonies will be happening throughout the United States and Ireland on this date. The public is welcome and it’s free to all.
