Assembly Republican Whip Dave Rible Expresses Outrage Over Nast Nomination

Assembly Republican Whip Dave Rible expressed outrage today at the nomination of Thomas Nast to be inducted to the New Jersey Hall of Fame due to the anti-Irish imagery used by the political cartoonist.

“As a state Assemblyman and an Irish Catholic I am appalled at the idea that New Jersey would seek to honor a man who openly conveyed prejudice and intolerance through his so-called art,” said Rible. “The New Jersey Hall of Fame should be reserved for individuals who have brought pride to our great state and not to someone who has promoted disrespect of any race or religion.”

The NJAOH is formally protesting the New Jersey Hall of Fame’s nomination of an anti-Irish Catholic bigot to their honor.
